FAQs

Donate by entering the auction or raffle unique for each chef to stand a chance of winning the batch of twelve lamington cakes. You can do this on our Donate To Win page.

You can enter the auction as many times as you like, and buy as many raffle tickets as you like. There is no limit to how many chef’s lamingtons you can bid for. The more donations, the better!

You will receive your raffle ticket through the email you entered when donating for the ticket. The winner will be notified via email – there is no action you need to take after donating.

You can donate by entering the silent auction or buying a raffle ticket from anywhere in the world, however, we can only send winning lamingtons to a UK address. Please ensure you type in a UK delivery address when donating, or ensure that someone you know in the UK is able to collect the lamingtons from the restaurant. If you’re bidding from abroad, why not choose to send winning lamingtons to a friend, loved one or favourite local charity?

The person who has donated the largest bid will be chosen as the winner for each chef’s lamington cakes.

Raffle winners are chosen at random for each chef, from each person who has donated for a raffle ticket for that chef. Each ticket has an equal chance of winning.

The auctions and raffles close on 29th February 2020 at 23:59. You can donate to bid on the auction or for raffle tickets up until that time.

The winners of the auctions and raffles will be notified via email on Sunday 1st March 2020.

If you don’t win any lamingtons, unfortunately you will not be hearing from us or receive any lamington cakes. However, we thank you immensely for donating to an incredibly important cause!

If you’ve won lamington cakes, you will be notified and contacted by our team via email with the following options:

1. Collection
Our team will inform you with a specific date and time that your lamington cakes will be ready for collection from the restaurant/café/business providing them, as well as the collection address. This cost will be free of charge, and your lamington cakes will be at their freshest!

The standard date for collection is Wednesday 4th March 2020 unless specified otherwise in our email.

2. Same-Day Delivery
Our team are happy to assist you in arranging same-day delivery via a courier service. We will inform you with a specific weekday date that your Lamingtons will arrive via same day delivery (the standard date is Wednesday 4th March 2020 unless specified otherwise in our email).

The cost of delivery must be covered by the winner to maximise our donations. The Lamington Cake Project team will do everything we can to minimise the cost.

3. Alternative Delivery
If neither of the above options suit your needs, we can connect you with the restaurant/business directly to coordinate arranging your own delivery process. This will be at the winner’s discretion and paid for by the winner. Please note that lamingtons may not travel well if it’s not delivered through a same-day courier service.

Yes. Although you can bid from anywhere in the world, you must insert a UK delivery address when donating. If you’re not based in the UK, please ensure that someone you know in the UK is able to collect the lamingtons from the restaurant, or opt to send winning lamington cakes to a friend or loved one in the UK.

If you’ve won a batch of lamington cakes but have not inserted a UK delivery address when donating, our team will be contacting you regarding this.

Our team will do everything we can to ensure the lamington cakes arrive in a good condition by using an acclaimed courier service, however unfortunately we can never guarantee the condition the lamington cakes arrive in.

If you’ve chosen to have our team arrange a same-day delivery, we will request clear instructions as to where to leave your lamingtons if you are not in when delivery is attempted, as well as your contact telephone number.

Unfortunately, no. Our team are dealing with a large amount of deliveries and restaurants. We will do our best to provide you with an estimated delivery time on the delivery date.

A lamington cake is an iconic Australian cake, typically made with sponge cake, coated in a chocolate glaze and rolled in coconut shavings. They often have a layer of jam between the sponge cake.

Each chef, cook and baker participating in The Lamington Cake Project have created their own version of the lamington cake. The descriptions and ingredients of each lamington cake will vary.

Each batch contains twelve individual lamington cakes, unless specified otherwise in their description. Some chefs and bakers will choose to not bake classic lamingtons, but instead utilise lamington flavours in other baked goods, and the quantities of these will vary and will be specified in the description.

The quantity of baked goods supplied is at the chef’s and baker’s discretion. The Lamington Cake Project accepts no responsibility if the quantity of goods do not match the description provided to us.

The size of the lamington cake or lamington-style baked good will vary depending on chef. The Lamington Cake Project accepts no responsibility if the size of the baked goods differ from the description or image provided.

We are unable to guarantee that the lamingtons are suitable for any food allergies. We are unable to provide an ingredients list for each lamington cake and strongly advise that those suffering from food allergies refrain from eating the lamington cakes. The Lamington Cake Project does not accept responsibility for any potential allergic reactions to ingredients in any of the lamington cakes.

We have listed lamington cakes that are vegan and/or gluten-free, however we are unable to review or control the kitchen environment that the lamingtons are made in and therefore must rely on each chef’s vigilance.

100% of the proceeds will be split amongst the following charities: Red Cross Australia, The Salvation Army Australia, CFA (Country Fire Authority), NSW Rural Fire Service, and WIRES Wildlife Rescue.

You can get in touch by emailing us at hello@projectlamington.com.

The Lamington Cake Project will contact you if you have given us permission to email you with updates. We will also contact you via email with a receipt of your donations, as well as contact you via email if you have won a batch of lamingtons, regardless of whether you have given us permission to email you with updates or not. We will also contact you if someone has outbid your bid in an auction to notify you and give you the opportunity to bid again.

We will contact you via phone if you have provided us with your phone number, only if you have won a batch of lamingtons and we have been unsuccessful in contacting you via email, or if we have an urgent matter (e.g. regarding delivery).
